The city sleeps
So silently
Wish I could say the same for me
But I've got this dead ended street
To keep searching
How does it feel like to be waiting for something for such a long time, but never seem to be heading your way? And just when you decided to give up on waiting, it arrives so softly, like a whisper and yet, manages to throw you completely off the route you had planned to take when you gave up. What will you do then, to embrace the whisper with open arms? Or will you turn your back, on something you had waited for a long time, and head on the way to somewhere new?
And what if, this cycle happens over and over, until you are so mentally drained out, until you grow so weary and tired of this issue. Will you still hang on and continue waiting? Or will you harden your heart and turn away from it?
If you were to harden your heart and turn away from it, what will you do if the issue comes knocking at your door again? Like they say, history always repeat itself.
Is it ultimately a test of your patience, or your level headedness? Is it worth it to wait for things that will come just when you decide to stop waiting? Is it even fair? The emotional burden, may just make the wait seem so horrid and torturous. Won't the wait take a toll on one emotionally? The fatigue from waiting for something, now that's gonna be a heavy baggage.
What then would be worth it? Is it the giddy, and overwhelming flow of happiness you get after everything has been said and done? But what if you don't get that kind of feeling at all? Will you know that it is worth it at your deathbed? Perhaps in the last few minutes of your life, you will know whether it is worth it or not.
And maybe not.
So what do we do in the meantime? Desperately try to get out of this vicious cycle? Or just let the waiting consume our lives?
Or perhaps, we can just do nothing. But ironically, it is no different from letting the waiting consume our lives.
